The Essentials (Updated 5/28)

This is the list of all lists when it comes to movies. Basically, if you haven't seen or heard of a movie on this list, you should make it a priority to see it ASAP... Let's be honest, I'm no movie critic, but these are some great films (Some of which I would not consider a "film", but still worth a watch). I will be constantly updating this list, so stay tuned! Click on the names of the movies to see a trailer. If you see that I've left something off of the list, or if you think I have the worst movie taste in the history of cinema, leave me a comment!

The Top Five (In no specific order, they're all #1's in my opinion)

Gangs of New York - What's not to  like about this epic set in New York in the 1850's? Leo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis and Cameron Diaz not to mention a pre-Talledega Nights John C. Riley. This film has something for everyone from fantastic cinematography, love triangles and need I mention to the amazing battle royal at the end? See This Movie.

The Departed - An Irish mob tale full of twists, crooked cops and cheating girlfriends. Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Leo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg and Martin Sheen just to name a few faces you'll recognize in this thriller. The best film Nicholson has done at this stage of his career.

Blow - Johnny Depp BEFORE he become a universally known swashbuckling pirate/chocolatier/vampire/mad hatter. Great story following along the actual life of George Jung. Don't forget about the always sexy Penélope Cruz and throwback Ray Liotta.

Snatch - Guy Ritchie's masterpiece set in London following the ridiculous events surrounding a pair of boxing promoters, Russian gangsters, gypsies, thieves and other sketchy individuals. Brad Pitt and Jason Statham head up an all star cast in this classic.

The Goodfellas - Ray Liotta, Robert De Niro and Joe Pesce. Enough Said. I don't want to ruin this one for anyone who hasn't seen this one.
